Part II - Grand Canyon National Park, June 9 - 17, 2008

Home        Grand Canyon, Part I        Grand Canyon, Part III

More of the Grand Canyon. See Part III for the trip home, including Sunset Valley Monument, Meteor Crater, and Billy the Kid Gravesite.

Just some nice views from the trail.
Stuff you don't see everyday. Unless you're one of the millions of lizzards that live here.

Smart-alec city slicker took a video of this "spring." Turns out it was a busted pipe and water in the Canyon had to be shut down for a while for the repair.

On the road again... er... on the rock again... from Bright Angel Campground. (Yeah. The Lemonade WAS cold. Yum.) Hey, I figure God put these rocks here for a purpose... and I found the purpose.
Hoodoos above, more trail below.
Our side of the Silver bridge across the Colorado River and the other end of the bridge.
There's that hoodoo again. And there's the swift Colorado River.
From the bridge, here are more views of the Colorado River.
And here we are on the bridge.
Just a little rest and one last look back at the river.

One of the creeks that feed into the river.
Hmm. The river is somewhere down there.
While taking a look back at where we came from, here come the mules.
These mules get up close and personal. We had to stop five times for mule trains going down.
The views are incredible!

Wow. It almost makes you dizzy looking back at the trail. Seeing how far you've come makes you feel tired. Proud, too; but still tired.

We set up camp at Indian Gardens Campground.
Although we weren't scheduled for this overnight stop, but it was very welcomed and much needed.

Stalked by squirrels at Indian Gardens Campground. And collard lizzards, too.
I think these little guys like posing for the camera.
The mules have really worn down the trails. See the Condor perched on the cliff?
Spot the mule deer? One is a very large buck lying down. His horns are in velvet. align="center" He was watching over five doe on the switchback. He's got his eye on me, too.
The 1/8 mile marker... an arch just below some Native American pictographs near the top of the South Rim. My savior, Ranger Shier. Note MY backpack on top of HER backpack. Wow. Wonder Woman.
Looking down from the South Rim
almost makes me dizzy.
At least my knees are VERY weak.
But, we made it!
