Part III - Grand Canyon National Park, June 9 - 17, 2008

The trip home was also filled with new adventures. We climbed a volcanic ash hill at Sunset Valley Monument, examined meteorites and other cool stuff at Meteor Crater, and visited the Billy the Kid Gravesite and Museum.

On the way home, we stopped at Sunset Monument National Park.

Sunset Valley National Monument in Arizona. Hills of volcanic "ash" and spectacular views.
Awesome. Except that Kim made me climb another mountain. I threatened to call Jetti to complain. He said she wouldn't be sympathetic at all.

So, I called my mom instead.

Awesome views in this Sunset Valley Park.

Next stop was at the Meteor Crator.
Wow, what a hole. They have a fantastic museum, gift shop,
and movie there, too.
(This is Kim pretending to be in the crator. ) This is the real crator.

At Fort Sumner, Lincoln County, New Mexico, we stopped for gas, soda, water,
restroom... oh, yeah... and Billy the Kid Museum, too.

The cemetery (and one of the two museums/gift shops) is four miles out of town. This is the grave of William H. Bonny, aka Billy the Kid.
A cage had to be built around the grave because people kept stealing the tombstone.
Kim's impression of William Bonney.

The morning of our final leg home, we were met with a beautiful sunrise.

Sort of the perfect ending for a perfect trip.
